LAFLECHE CREDIT UNION - "Celebrating 70 Years of Service"
After credit unions were established in Regina, Saskatoon and Moose Jaw, the very first credit union in a rural area was set up in Lafleche, one of the worst hit areas during the Depression of the 1930s. Lalfeche CU also has the distinction of granting the 1st Credit Union loan for the purchase of farmland in Sask.
From our humble beginning in 1938, with 15 members and $53 in Assets, Lafleche Credit Union has grown to serve over 2,000 members in 2 locations and now holds in excess of $45 million in Assets. Yes, many things have changed over the past 70 years, yet other things have not changed – like our commitment to community, the co-operative principles, and service to members.
